“Snagging Blanket” depicts the tradition of plains courting blankets. Historically blankets such as this pictured we’re created by female relatives for their young male relatives in hopes to find a wife. These blankets were used to cover or hide their faces for privacy while courting or visiting in plain sight within the villages. From the story to the aesthetics, never missing details, artist Lauren Good Day creates drawings rooted in cultural knowledge.
